About The Game Changer

The Game Changer fly designed by US fly tyer and guide Blane Chocklett is an absolutely astounding fly. The amazing articulated Game Changer fly has truly changed the sport forever. This highly mobile fly is deadly for freshwater and saltwater. Regardless of your target species trout, northern pike, musky, bass this pattern produces and has indeed changed the rules with a fly that is almost a lure!

This fly can be stripped, dead drifted or swung through the current. Fish on an intermediate line or sinking line with rise and fall of stripped across the surface on a floating line for summer pike and musky action there is no doubt you will not get let down by this pattern.

Kit Contents:

  • 8mm, 10mm, 20mm and 30mm chenilles plus
  • stainless steel and
  • 3d eyes.

This kit will product 6 to 8 Game Changers

You Need To Supply

  • Front Hook recommended #6 or larger
  • Trailing Hook recommended #10 or larger
  • 2 x Articulated shanks per fly (15mm or 20mm recommended)

Optional

  • Add a tail to your Game Changer using a feather like Guinea Fowl as shown above
 

 

  1. Add your trailing hook to the vice, wrap your thread over to stop any chenille slippage.

  1. Tie in the 8mm chenille. Wrap your thread forwards to the eye.

  1. Wrap the chenille forward to the hook eye and tie off.

  1. Add the articulated hook to the eye of the training hook and clamp in your vice.

  1. Cover the shank with thread to form a thread base for the chenille.

  1. Tie in the 10mm chenille. Wrap your thread forwards to the eye.

  1. Wrap the chenille forward to the shank eye and tie off.

  1. Add the second shank to the eye of the first shank and clamp in vice.

  1. Cover the 2nd shank with thread to form a thread base for the chenille.

  1. Repeat steps 6 and 7 adding the 20mm chenille to the 2nd shank.

  1. Add the front hook to your vice and clamp.

  1. Loop 0.2mm stainless steel wire through the 2nd shank eye and tie onto leading hook. (Note the wire should protrude the length of the hook shank or longer)

  1. Wrap your wire backwards and cover completely with thread. This secures the body of the Game Changer to the leading hook

  1. Tie in the 30mm chenille. Wrap your thread forwards to the eye.

  1. Wrap your 30mm chenille forward to the leading hook eye and tie off.

  1. Glue your eyes in place and preferably cover them with resin like Semperfli No Tack UV Resin or varnish.

 

You can use any mix of colors or even use permanent marker pens to enhance your Game Changer as required.
